Dear Italy, The Entire State Of Texas Has Something To Tell You About Your Mother
-
Dead: Harley Clark, Texas state District Judge, but you won't care about his legal career. No, you'll only remember him for one thing: He was the guy who, in 1955, popularized the "Hook 'em Horns" hand signal. Yes, he did. He was, at 19, head cheerleader (!) for the Texas Longhorns, a friend showed him the gesture that they'd done as kids, and the future judge tried it out on a pep rally before Texas played TCU (after running around campus doing it and confusing everybody). He told all the students to use it as a symbol to support the school forever more... and they did. The Dean was upset, because it wasn't approved and because the same gesture will get your teeth punched in in Italy, but history was made. (Austin American-Statesman)
