I'll Have The 'I Don't Want To Know' Burger With 'Don't Tell Me' Fries

Your state might already require it, but the FDA is going to make it even more sweeping by requiring all chain restaurants, movie theater snack bars, vending machines, and amusement parks to post calorie counts for all menu items. If you haven't had this imposed in your state yet, I'll say that it does affect how you order, and it does affect how you enjoy your meal. Even if you decide, well, I really would like that meatball sub, the calorie count looms over that decision and it does take some of the pleasure away. On balance, I prefer to know what the calorie counts are so I can be fully informed, but it does make eating out a little more grim. (New York Times)
