Sorry, Boss, I Only Read John Grisham
-
A fire chief in Atlanta has been suspended for writing a book. Well, it's more than that. He published a book about his faith and gave it to subordinates. Okay, even more: there are some anti-gay views in there. And he allegedly never told his bosses about the book. Now, there are a couple of things here: One, should someone HAVE to warn his or her employer if he or she writes a book? Does the content make a difference -- if the book was noncontroversial and about something like, say, the Falcons, would it have been an issue? And if you're his employee, would getting the book be intimidating, or taken as proselytizing? (WSB-TV/Atlanta)
