Selling Reading Material Is A 'Bad Image.' We Are SO Doomed
-
Once upon a time, there were newsstands everywhere. One of the cool things I loved about moving to L.A. was that there were a lot of great newsstands all over, right on the street, open 24/7. Now, "news" is such a dirty word that Hudson News, the venerable operator of airport and train station newsstands, is dropping the word "News" from its newsstands' name and remodeling to emphasize food and gifts rather than magazines and books. Look, I like e-books, too, and it's great to be able to get anything you want to read in seconds on your tablet or phone, but... sad. (Skift)
