It's Not Just A Table, It's... Um... Okay, It's A Table, But A Really COOL Table
-
Kean University in New Jersey spent $219,000 of taxpayers' money on a conference table. It's a nive table, a big circular war-room deal with power ports and glass and wood, but $219,000? In a no-bid deal with a Chinese company? The school opened a satellite campus in China, so there's that, but this is a school with declining enrollment and a poor graduation rate spending a lot on a table (which, incidentally, now has a parody Twitter account). The school president says people are focusing too much on the table, and asks, "why not? Why not" buy a table. Sure, when you're spending other people's money. The same school spent $2.5 million building a farm-to-table restaurant, so they're no stranger to overspending. (Fox News)
