Anglophone workers at a Montreal hospital are livid over a new edict from management: Because of Quebec's infamous Bill 101, the hospital has ordered the workers to speak only French everywhere but the ER or on their breaks. Chit-chat with co-workers? French only. Even if you both are primarily English-speaking. This is what happens when the Protect Our Precious National... er, Provincial Culture get their way. I do know that there's one explanation for it that some might find rational -- they don't want some workers talking behind others' backs by using a language that not everyone knows -- but, still, there's zero respect for Anglos' right to speak their native language.
