A Lot Of Power To Put In One Person's Hands
-
The lone holdout on the Jodi Arias sentencing jury, the one whose opposition to the death penalty caused a mistrial, felt assaulted by the other jurors, her husband says, and you can imagine their frustration. But that's why juries have to be unanimous, and you have to admire in some way someone who looks at the case and thinks, well, she doesn't merit execution, even if you don't agree with her. And if you're on that jury and you know that your vote is the one thing determining someone's life or death, would you be able to send that person, no matter what they did, to a lethal injection and still sleep soundly at night? Even if you're pro-death penalty, that's a huge burden to assume. (KPHO-TV/Phoenix)
