Wait, Who's This Bad Singer And This Guy Talking, And Where's Marvin?

Can we talk a little about the "Blurred Lines" verdict? Here's the thing: The song obviously is based on "Got to Give It Up." But the melody's very different, the words are obviously different, and you can immediately tell the two apart (one's a classic of '70s soul, the other sucks). So, should that be enough to award the Gaye family anything? Clearly, the jury thinks so, and the law may dictate that as well. But does anyone hear "Blurred Lines" and mistake it for the original, or is it just "hey, that song's a lot like..." (Los Angeles Times)
