It was hot as hell in Southern California this weekend, and no matter what they could do to prevent problems, you knew that someone was going to be dropping at the L.A. Marathon. Sure enough, a 61-year-old runner went into cardiac arrest 2/3 of the way in. Lemme first stipulate that the heart ailment may have happened with or without the race, or the heat. I run in the same heat. But even as a runner, I don't really know what the appeal is of doing 26.2 miles in ANY weather. Too much can go wrong, and... it hurts. 87 people got hurt this year, and 31 went to the hospital. Why? Because it's there? (KTLA/Los Angeles)
