This CAN'T Be Serious. Nobody Could Be Serious About This. Can They?

California's Attorney General is fighting in court not to have to allow a proposed law to go to the initiative and referendum process, but before you say she's blocking the people's will, consider that the law is intended to have gays and lesbians executed by "bullets to the head" or "any other convenient method." This was proposed by a lawyer who is either a performance artist trying to get a rise out of people or a truly evil individual. Should the state have to let a whack job with $200 to spare put everyone through this process when it's as unconstitutional as anything ever devised? Apparently, state law says yes, she'll have to let him try, and we don't want to pass laws making it harder and more expensive to get legitimate issues on the ballot. But, geez, this is both sick and a massive waste of time and money. (To be sure, the likelihood that he'd get enough signatures to get this on the ballot is beyond remote, but you can imagine the scene if someone stands outside the Ralphs with a clipboard trying to get people to sign this thing.)
