A few weeks ago, there was a huge fight at Atlantic City High School, with the principal among those attacked. Several students -- 21 at last count -- face charges in the incident now, and what's interesting to me about the article comes way at the end, when it's postulated that the reason for the brawl is that the kids brought tension from their parents losing their casino jobs in the recent wave of closings into school with them. First, we're really speculating wildly with this, since we don't know whether these kids even have parents who got laid off. Second, is that even an excuse? When my dad had job difficulties, I didn't go to school and punch people. Does there always have to be an excuse? (Press of Atlantic City)
