Once You've Left School, You Really Shouldn't Need A Doctor's Note For Anything
-
Alaska Airlines has had to apologize after a cancer patient and her family were kicked off a Hawaii-to-California flight because she didn't have a doctor's note approving her to fly. This was because a) she wore a surgical mask just in case (chemo plays havoc with your immune system) and said she felt weak, and b) the flight crew has no idea that you don't need a doctor's note to fly if you have cancer. In the meantime, she and her family had to spend an extra day in Hawaii, which sounds great except that it made her miss a chemo session, which, when you're battling cancer, you don't want to do. You know, all of this could be avoided if the crew just picked up the phone and called someone for assistance instead of making rules up as they go along. (KPIX-TV/San Francisco)
