Amazon's Great, But It's Just Not The Same

The news that Barnes and Noble is closing its store in Forest Hills, Queens not only reminds me of the fact that bookstores are still dying and that the last time I went to a Barnes and Noble, it was depressingly in disarray, but also reminds me that the Barnes and Noble in Forest Hills -- it's a reasonably affluent part of Queens, and it leaves the borough without a B&N except in Bayside, which is way off to the northeast and not near the subway -- is featured in Billy Eichner and Rachel Dratch's parody of "Empire State of Mind" (which you'll find here) (NSFW! Unplayable on the radio! Many Jewish-centric jokes! People shaped like pears! Can't believe it's already five years old!) Anyway, another bookstore bites the dust. (New York Daily News)
