Good Luck With That (No, Really)
-
Jeff Kinney, the guy who wrote the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books, is taking some of the cash he earned on those best-sellers and movies and opening a bookstore in his hometown. First reaction: Might as well flush your money down the toilet. Second reaction: You know, if anyone can pull this off, a celebrity author in his hometown might do it. And he says he's been encouraged by others who have done the same and actually made money from year one. This might be a good test of the theory that bookstores are doomed; there HAS to be room for SOME good, local, well-stocked, creative bookstores, right? Right? (New York Times)
