It's Not On TMZ Yet? So Disappointing

We'll surely eventually know what "prior misconduct against an unnamed person" Dennis Hastert was hiding that led him to allegedly violate banking laws to withdraw $3.5 million to buy someone's silence. But the lack of information just makes you imagine the absolute worst, doesn't it? Especially when the indictment drops in one otherwise incongruous note: that Hastert was a high school wrestling coach. Huh. Wonder what they mean by mentioning that. It's a shocker. (rimshot) (No, not going any further with that.) What's also interesting is that the law he allegedly tried to circumvent -- the one that requires all large cash transactions at banks to be disclosed -- wasn't really meant to block this kind of thing. It was to make it harder for drug dealers and organized crime to move money (like that worked). But he also allegedly lied to the FBI about it, so he's in deep trouble, which, if what you're thinking he must have done is true, he would deserve. (Washington Post)
