Kid Might Have A Future As A Scriptwriter
-
The other week, there was a story in our local newspaper about an 11-year-old kid reporting that a van had pulled up and a guy had tried to lure him into a kidnapping. When it happened, it was a shock, since the neighborhood in question is a nice, very affluent place and those things just don't happen. In fact, my wife and I, shortly thereafter, were sitting just a few blocks away waiting for her car to finish a smog check and we agreed that the story, if true, was terrible, but something about it just didn't ring right. Suspicions once again confirmed: The boy now says he made it up. Why, they don't say. And what's really odd is how much detail he put into the story, enough for the police to do a sketch of the purported kidnapper. Was it for attention, or another reason? (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
