Look, That Box Is Full Of Trash... No, Wait, That's Just The Newspaper

Another negative effect of the folding of newspapers across the country: abandoned, empty honor boxes. That's the case in New Haven, where the Tribune company shut down a weekly paper a couple of years ago, and while the boxes are still supposed to be used for distributing a listings supplement to the Hartford Courant, they generally remains empty, and people use the boxes as trash cans. Nobody comes to clean them up, and nobody removes the things. This is happening all over, as newspapers fold and the boxes remain on the streets. (New Haven Independent)
