Sure They Play Pickup. Pickup NBA 2K15, Pickup Madden....
-
This columnist seems to think that the death of pickup games is a new thing -- he observes, correctly, that you do not see kids playing sports outside of organized leagues anymore. Fields and courts are empty. Nobody but nobody plays stickball or halfball or kickball; kids don't even know how to choose sides and ump/ref their own games. But that's not new. It's been happening for 50 years. My dad used to rail about it when we'd drive by baseball fields and basketball courts sitting unused on a summer afternoon, and that was in the late 1960s. By the time I was in high school, getting guys to play pickup anything was hard, and that was before video games. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
