A woman who took Time Warner Cable to court over robocalls won $230,000 because the cable company just would not stop calling her. That's a victory for humanity, but it's frustrating to me, because while we get a ton of telemarketing and robocalls, it's all from untraceable numbers. We're on the no-call list and the calls STILL keep coming, because the telemarketers know that even if you COULD trace them, unless you spent time and lots of money on a lawsuit AND could document the calls, they face little risk. Not sure how they make money, though, because I can't imagine anyone buying anything from them. (Oh, right, they sell each other their "good" numbers lists.) (WNBC-TV/New York)
