Gee Whiz, It's Back

The New York City Council speaker wants to decriminalize public urination. Needless to say, the New York Post didn't let that slide by without a pee-related headline and much indignant commentary. Also on the list to be decriminalized: jumping subway turnstiles. If you don't keep anti-social or thieving behavior illegal, though, does that diminish the quality of life? We saw things improve when Giuliani did his "broken windows" campaign to get rid of graffiti, move homeless people off the streets, and take care of petty crimes, because those do have an impact on daily life. But now, under new management, the city is letting that stuff creep back in. (New York Post)
