They Were Rebooting Him Even Then

Who created Spider-Man? Steve Ditko? Jack Kirby? How about Ben Cooper? Who?!? Ben Cooper was the brand of Halloween costume that dominated the business in the '50s and '60s, and someone's discovered that the company, based in Brooklyn, sold a Spider-Man costume 8 years before the comics. Now, let's face it, it's not like the idea of a spider-man hybrid was all that unusual to think about. It's possible that one of the various folks who were involved with the Marvel character saw the costume and thought, huh, idea. And Ben Cooper ultimately released the very first Spider-Man officially licensed costume in 1963. Still, it's interesting to see a (yellow!) Spider-Man costume from before there was a Peter Parker.
