The Laws Haven't Caught Up With Technology. Or Maybe It's The Other Way Around

A San Diego woman has been ordered to pay the city $15,000 for renting rooms in her house via AirBnB. She contended that she was not running a bed and breakfast requiring a permit. (Never mind what the "BnB" part of AirBnB might stand for.) But this is a debate happening everywhere: Your right to do what you want with your property and the public benefit of AirBnB (considerable) versus neighbors' right not to have a commercial venture (and traffic, and transients) next door and the city's right to regulate.
