Our State's Motto Is 'You Can't Afford To Live Here'
-
We in California already pay the highest gas prices in the Lower 48. What's the governor proposing to do about it? He wants to raise prices even higher with taxes and slap a new $65 per car tax on us, too. It's to pay for road repairs, but a) we already get taxed for that and the legislature keeps diverting the funds to pay for things like public employee pensions, and b) there's nothing being proposed that guarantees that this money won't end up in the general fund, either. In fact, they want to spend $400 million of the new money on buses and trains, which is necessary because WE ALREADY EARMARKED BILLIONS FOR THAT. It's like they count on the public to not pay attention. Maybe if they stopped spending on themselves and idiot projects like a bullet train to nowhere, we'd have money to fill potholes and fix bridges. (Los Angeles Times)
