The court has ruled and the "Happy Birthday" song is in the public domain, no longer copyrighted and subject to royalties. The copyright claim from the '30s, the judge said, applies only to certain arrangements, not the underlying lyrics. So sing it loud and proud. You don't owe anyone anything for it.
