Can We All Just Switch To Apple Pay Now? It's SO Much Easier
-
This is the week -- Thursday is the day -- that your credit card is supposed to have a chip. In the U.S., that is. The rest of you have chip-and-PIN cards and have had them for years. We've been swiping the magnetic strip all this time, and it's very insecure. The chip is more secure, although unlike the rest of the world, ours will be chip-and-signature, no PIN; signatures are pretty useless for security. Also, you'll have to get used to sticking your card in the little slot at the bottom of the terminal at registers, and the extra time it takes to do that. But at least it's a small step towards taking security seriously. (Los Angeles Times)
