Just Take The Indianapolis Star, Scrawl 'Milwaukee' Across The Top, And There You Go

Gannett is buying the Journal Media Group newspapers for $280 million, which means a) newspapers ain't worth what they used to be, and b) more importantly, Gannett will own most of the big papers in Wisconsin. They'll end up owning most of the big papers, period. On one hand, this doesn't matter, since circulation is plummeting at most papers. On the other hand, newspapers are still among the primary news operations in most cities, and when one cost-cutting cookie-cutter chain buys 'em up, that's very bad. (And Gannett papers lately tend to be VERY thin, with whole sections being USA Today.) (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel)
