Well, Maxim Still Exists. For Now
-
An end of an era and the continuing death of print: Bauer Media has abruptly suspended publication of FHM, one of the first of Britain's "lad mags" (there was a U.S. edition for several years, too), after 20 years. FHM was the one with the "sexiest women" list, and it was, with Maxim, the progenitor of a whole category of magazine -- call it non-porn porn, articles about cars and beer and extreme sports peppered with pictures of hot women in various stages of not-really-naked. Guys get their fill of that stuff online now. I actually thought about that the other day at the newsstand in the Venice airport, looking for something in print in English to read on a flight and finding no sports magazines there, and not too many in Italian, either. Does anyone read print magazines anymore? (Mashable)
