Hold On, No String Bean Casserole With Crunchy Onion Things? RIPOFF
-
The latest in New York's Old Homestead restaurant's long history of ridiculously expensive engagement dinners: a $45,000 Thanksgiving dinner, diamond engagement ring included (in the stuffing). Last year's non-engagement $35,000 Thanksgiving dinner is now even more elaborate with the ring, which is going to be hidden in stuffing made from foie gras and Wagyu beef (the real thing from Japan, not the domestic knockoff). The dinner is meant for eight people, $5,625 per person, and comes with Cristal and Dom, caviar-topped whipped sweet potatoes, butternut squash with winter black truffles, turkey (of course), gravy made with Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, Grand Marnier-and-Chateau Mouton Rothschild-infused cranberry-orange relish, pumpkin ice cream with 24-carat edible gold flakes, a couple of seats for the Macy's parade, $7,500 to spend at Bergdorf's, and two nights at the Waldorf with limo service. What's your dinner gonna be like? (New York Daily News)
