We often talk here about how runners approaching train tracks need to look up, for obvious reasons. But it's not just up. Both ways, too. A running club was doing its regular "Beer Run" when they encountered a freight train on the tracks. They'd waited for the train to pass, then one runner took off around the gates and across the tracks... and promptly got hit and killed by an Amtrak train he never saw coming. LOOK BOTH WAYS.
