Or Wear All Your Clothes On Board, If Sweat's Not An Issue

This story's headline: "Don't let the airlines lose your suitcase this Thanksgiving." The only foolproof way to do that is not to check a bag at all, right? Fight over overhead bin space if you want to make sure you have your bag at your destination. But there ARE some good suggestions, including putting your itinerary in your bag in case the tags get ripped off. On our recent trip, though, our bags made it from LAX to Montreal, Zurich, and Rome and then from Venice to Frankfurt, Denver (where they were alarmingly delayed but finally showed up), and back home, so bags CAN make it through complicated itineraries with VERY tight (in Zurich, about 30 minutes) connections. But I rarely check bags if I can help it; I go with one duffle-like suitcase (no rollers!) and a backpack, period, check nothing, and try to get off the plane and to my ground transportation as quickly as possible. But if you're a bag checker, have your bags ever gone AWOL? (AP via KOMO-TV/Seattle)
