At Some Point, There'll Be More Warnings Than Food Choices
-
New York under former Mayor Bloomberg became a true Nanny City, trying to nag or even force people into eating officially approved foods and portions. The lasting legacy, of course, is the calorie count on chain restaurant menus, which has spread nationwide. Now, Mayor DiBlasio is trying to keep up the nagging with a new regulation: All restaurants with more than 15 locations will have to display salt shaker icons next to menu items high in sodium. And, you know, more information is better, but all of this stuff just continues to suck the pleasure out of eating at restaurants. They won't stop until eating is just a mechanical, non-pleasurable thing you do solely for fuel. (WABC-TV/New York)
