'Better Safe Than Sorry' Has Its Limits
-
Near here in Redondo Beach, a school principal, for the second time in a year, canceled classes due to a vague bomb threat, sending kids home just in case. The question is whether a principal owes a duty to the kids and families to be extra-safe, or whether he's overreacting and should use discretion. It's a hard choice: If a seemingly facetious threat becomes real, there are lives at stake. On the other hand, if you react to everything, you can't function. (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
