Maybe This Is How The Minnow Got Wrecked On A 3-Hour Tour
-
This item about a serial thief caught taking a joyride around San Diego Bay in a stolen Hornblower yacht reminds me of thoughts I have whenever I'm at a marina (including ones where he took the boat), namely, it seems really way too easy to steal a boat. I know some -- most -- marinas in big cities have gates or doors and locks and cameras, but, still, the boats seem lightly guarded. It looks like anyone can climb on board. Also, you could avoid the gates by using a dinghy to get to the piers via the water. But it was ballsy, or stupid, or both to take something as large as a Hornblower yacht and think that nobody was gonna notice you out there on the bay. (KFMB-TV/San Diego)
