Good Intentions, Not So Good Technology
-
This column from last week by Nick Bilton in the New York Times asserts something that is absolutely true and nobody in the tech industry wants to face: Practically all fitness bands and watches end up unused and in a drawer. That includes the Apple Watch. Really, do you see many of those actually on people's wrists? You wear your Fitbit or Apple Watch for a month or two, then you stop sleeping with it on because it's uncomfortable, then you forget to charge it or put it on in the morning, and before you know it, it's an expensive piece of junk. Like everything else designed by engineers for purposes that don't include what people actually want or how they behave, these gadgets seem like a good idea for a short time, then reality kicks in.
