Somewhere, Walt Garrison Is Disappointed
-
Los Angeles is the latest city to consider a ban on smokeless tobacco at the ballpark, meaning that the Dodgers and visiting teams at Chavez Ravine would have to go without Skoal or Copenhagen. Now, I think dip is disgusting and causes cancer, but I'm not sure that a city should ban it from ballparks on the flimsy assumption that little kids will dip because they see the big leaguers do it. But then again, young players pick up the habit from older players. But then again then again, that tends to happen in the minors. So the ban's really more symbolic than anything. (Los Angeles Times)
