Something you know is being replaced, and you don't even know what it is. I'm referring to Los Angeles' 6th Street Bridge, the pending demolition of which prompted a sort-of party that had to be broken up by the cops, because it was pretty boisterous. The 6th Street Bridge? Yes, you know it by sight. It's been in countless movies, TV shows, and commercials, because a) it has a generic look and b) it doesn't get too much traffic, so shooting there doesn't disrupt anything. You know when there's a car, usually at night, driving in a nameless, generic city on a bridge -- more an overpass -- that has white-painted side walls with a distinctive pattern and... well, if you see the pictures, you'll recognize it. (Think crime shows, when there's a police roadblock on a bridge and the bad guys spin out - yeah, THAT bridge.) There will be a new bridge in its place, which will surely be on your TV screen and in the movies in no time. (Los Angeles Times)
