Though Even With A Rock-Solid Plan, Someone's Always Gonna Try To Get At The Money
-
I'm gonna put this article here about how to guard against financial elder abuse as an all-purpose warning that there are people ready to prey on the elderly -- your parents, your loved ones, you -- by taking advantage of poor memory or misplaced trust. It can be a family member, it can be a friend, it can be a caretaker or someone else that shows up in their lives. Be especially aware of the Second Spouse syndrome -- that's when a well-drawn pre-nup and trust can be priceless. (I'll hold my tongue and just say that I've learned a lot about things...) I'll credit veteran radio talker Glynnis Walker for this one, since she's not only quoted herein but has a book out about this topic. (US News and World Report)
