It took hiring a management consulting firm, probably at top dollar, for Wawa to figure out that the best way to keep new employees on staff for more than a year is to give them more hours right out of the gate instead of restricting how much they can work? Look, I could have told them that for free. You want people making not a lot more than minimum to stay, you give them a chance to make as much money as they can. Sure, some might end up working enough to require benefits, but if the goal is to get them to stay, that's what you have to do, even more than raising the hourly wage. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
