The Kentucky legislator proposing that men only be able to get Viagra if they produce a note from their wives is not seriously proposing that this be the law, you know. I'm amazed that it's being treated as an outrageous, out-of-touch thing when it's clearly meant to counter laws requiring partner consent for an abortion. (The two situations aren't entirely analogous, but the concept of requiring someone else's consent before an emancipated adult can do something with his or her own body is kinda odd in general.) It's political theater, not a law being seriously considered, so take it as commentary, not "how dare she." (The Courier-Journal, Louisville)
