At Least They're Not Banning Salt Shakers On The Table. Yet
-
The restaurant lobby groups are in court over New York's requirement that chain restaurants mark high-sodium meals on their menus with a salt shaker warning emoji. Like calorie counts, this is a battle between right-to-know and too-much-information, between free speech for restaurants and full disclosure of risks. Honestly, I don't care that much- I'm fine with knowing something's loade with sodium, don't care if it's not mentioned on the menu- but a court will decide if this is unduly nanny-state or a reasonable act by the health department.
