Well, She's An HONEST Politician, Which Should Count For Something
-
A county commissioner and Democratic State Senate candidate on Cape Cod is apologizing for posting on Facebook that she was happy Scalia died, which didn't go over well with Republicans and came off as a little gauche. And this raises the question of when is "too soon," and whether speaking ill of the dead is ever justified. Well, of course it is, if you're talking, like, Hitler or Stalin or bin Laden. But if it's someone who's not a murderer, someone with whom you just disagree, is it unseemly to say you're happy he's dead? On the other hand, if you really feel that way, while it may be polite to hold your tongue, is it honest? (Boston Herald)
