Which Might Be An Argument For Fluoride In The Water Supply
-
This historical piece looks at dentistry in the 1800s, and the mystery of exploding teeth. Yes, people's teeth would spontaneously explode. Today, we can guess that what caused the teeth to go blooey was the various metal used to make cavities before mercury amalgam came into widespread use. When they mixed certain metals, it was like making a battery, and some were so poorly done that ka-blam. Or it was totally unrelated and spontaneous. Either way, you can talk about dental nightmares with this one. (BBC)
