Time For Compassionate Incarceration
-
Remember that elderly woman who's a serial burglar, the one who we talked about a few years ago when she got caught again and asked to be sent to prison because she likes it there and can get health care for her diabetes? They gave her 6 years, she only served three before they paroled her, and, now 86 years old, what do you expect she did? Yup, she stole a woman's purse out of an office, which is her M.O. -- she's known as an "office creeper." The cops are looking for her, though they know she likes to ride the bus and stay in motels in this area. Her rap sheet goes back to 1955 and she's spent most of her life in jail; she was actually convicted of murder in 1957, but then was ruled insane, sent to a mental hospital, and ultimately released again. If she wants to be in prison, why are they giving her shorter sentences? Give her 20 years just to make sure. (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
