Maybe Give 'Em A Tax Credit For The Kids' Uber Rides Instead

Sure, it seems like a good, and humane, idea to, as a bill in the California legislature would mandate, let workers have paid time off to tend to their kids' school activities. But won't this cut further into productivity? How are businesses supposed to cover for that on top of what it already costs when workers take sick days? And why should there be special time off for parents-- what about those who don't have kids? I love time off and flexibility, but the cost of adding more and more seems pretty high.
