The Parts Are Probably Held On With Duct Tape, So They're Easy To Pry Apart
-
In England, a certain kind of car has become a major target for car thieves and chop shops looking for parts, and it's not what you'd assume. No, they're targeting '80s compact beaters, like Cortinas and Escorts and Novas. Seriously, '80s cars are becoming popular for restoration and use as, I guess, an ironic memento of the "good old days" or something, and that means people who actually have to still drive the old heaps are losing them to thieves who grab them and take them to chop shops to be broken down for parts. You can understand new cars being targeted, or popular cars of recent vintage, but crappy '80s cars? (BBC)
