Oh, Is THAT What It Does? Silly Us, We Had No Idea That Was In There

It's the mark of a legislature out of control when they pass a bill and can't tell you what it specifically does. And it's the mark of a legislature trying to get away with something, that being in the case of Kentucky's State Senate passing a bill allowing businesses to discriminate against gays by refusing to serve them on religious or moral grounds. Every time a proponent says it doesn't exactly do that, a clause pops up indicating that it would. They insist that it's merely about not making someone do something or make something that violates his or her religion, but you know what? I have yet to find the passage in the Bible that specifically instructs believers not to bake a cake for gay people. Sure, it has some nasty stuff about gays in there, but it never says that merely doing business with a gay person will send you straight to hell. (Louisville Courier-Journal)
