Could-Be-Worse vs. Go-For-Broke

Obama is nominating Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, and the games begin. Garland is probably about as palatable a judge as Republicans can hope to get out of Obama, and if they DON'T confirm, they run the risk of ending up with Hillary Clinton nominating someone less centrist. Or Trump nominating a crony. Do they stick with the plan to delay and derail or do they go ahead and put Garland on the court as a best-option-available? (New York Times)
