Coming Soon- One-Letter Titles (Which You'll Hear On 'Nine,' No Doubt)
-
Missed this from earlier this month, but it's sort of an evergreen, an article with actual research on why so many hit singles of the current era have one-word titles. Seriously, check it out. "Hello," "Work," "Fancy," "Formation"... what's going on? Well, it's not that new -- there have always been short titles -- but it's assumed that producers and labels are thinking short because it's easier to recall in an age when single song sales are dominant. The songs repeat the single word so you'll recall them when you go online to buy. Simple as that. But it makes you want to seek out songs with impossibly long titles, just to provide a balance.
