And The People Responsible Are Still In Charge
-
While everyone's excited over the President's Cuba trip (or angry about his posing in front of the Che sign), here's a well-said reminder of why some people were so adamantly against any possible reconciliation with the Castro regime, a column by Dan Le Batard that appeared at both the Miami Herald and ESPN.com that talks about his grandparents and parents, who lost everything to the revolution. His grandparents stayed and were subjected to the oppression and poverty of Castro's Cuba, and his parents came over to Miami with nothing when the revolution turned. Agree with the sentiment or not, but there are plenty of Cuban-Americans in South Florida who remember what happened, who lost property, careers, and family members to the revolution, and whose concerns have been drowned out in the euphoria.
