Goldman Sachs, the last one to settle with the regulators in the mortgage crisis, will pay just $5.1 billion and no individuals get punished. If there are going to be laws requiring firms to fully tell investors what they're up to and the people responsible don't bother and don't get punished for it, what's the point of the laws? And do you understand where the anger in the country is coming from? (New York Times)
